Birmingham City co-owner David Sullivan says they'll be making major signings in January.
He said: "I am excited by the prospect of us probably bringing in three or four players who could make the difference. Hopefully once we have achieved that objective, then come the summer we will build a squad to take us to the next level because I believe we have the man in place to do that.
"At the moment the best players see us as one of the strong candidates for relegation. We can't sell the club to the bigger names. So we will be looking at bringing in seasoned pros at this stage, bringing players in for the here and now to, all being well, ensure that we remain in the Premier League then move on from there."
