Verbeek resigned as coach of South Korea after the end of the Asian Cup in July and became Australia's boss last week.
Chung Moon-joon believes that the Dutchman's knowledge about Korean football will prove to be a potent weapon should the two nations meet on the pitch.
"Verbeek is a coach who knows Korea well and I am worried about that when we play Australia," the FIFA Vice-President told reporters.
Chung, who was welcoming new coach Huh Jung-moo, insisted that when Verbeek resigned last July, it was of his own accord.
"Pim Verbeek resigned after the Asian Cup but that wasn't because he did something wrong was or because he was under pressure from us."
