Sheffield Wednesday land Blackburn's Jeffers

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Francis Jeffers from Blackburn on a three-year deal after agreeing an undisclosed fee with Mark Hughes' side.

Owls manager Brian Laws said: "I'm delighted to have secured a player of Francis Jeffers' calibre here at Hillsborough.

"Francis has spent most of his career in the Premier League because of the quality that he possesses and I believe he can be a regular scorer with us in the Championship.

"We've been looking to secure a top-quality striker over the summer and we certainly have that now, going into the new season, which is a really big boost for Sheffield Wednesday."

Rovers boss Hughes said: "Francis needed to go somewhere to start playing week in, week out. I'm sure he will be a great success at Sheffield Wednesday because he is a quality player."
