Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce is delighted that new defensive loan signing Rafael Schmitz is close to full-fitness.

"It's been disappointing for both Rafa and ourselves that he's not been available yet," said Bruce.

"We had known about him and had been watching him for some time and we were delighted to bring him here.

"But you have to be careful with Achilles injuries, they can be the worst of the lot."
