Russia coach Hiddink: England couldn't tempt me

Russia boss Guus Hiddink insists he was never tempted by the England job.

"There was a slight approach but at that moment I was already talking with the Russian federation," he told Sky Sports News. "I gave my word to Russia that I wouldn't sign a contract (with anyone else) and I don't go back on my word."

Hiddink's Russia side take on England in a crucial Euro 2008 qualifier on Wednesday, but he has played down talk about the artificial surface at Luzhniki Stadium.

Hiddink does not believe Russia will have a significant edge, having trained on the pitch in the past.

He explained: "We've practised a few times on this pitch but England have practised also so the advantage is not huge.

"The bounce might be a bit higher but there won't be much difference."
