"Obviously Brahim comes into our thinking again for this match (against Lyon)," said Smith. "OK, so far this season we have been bringing him into the team for the big European matches and leaving him out of domestic games, but that doesn't necessarily mean that's the way it's always going to be in the future.

"It's my opinion that some of the games in Scotland are just not suited to his style of play. When the ball is going back to front over the top of the midfield he gets missed out a lot and that is a problem for him and for the team.

"But, in European games, and quite a lot of our domestic matches, he will have a role to play. He has played very well for us in the European games so far this season and we have no fears about putting him in. None at all."
