Rangers boss Smith blames Uefa cup run for current injury crisis

"I have no doubt that the amount of matches (Carlos) Cuellar played last season is contributing to the niggling injuries he's getting at the present moment. That's been a bit of a problem during our pre-season," said Smith in the Daily Record.

"One or two players who played a lot of games for us last season have missed bits of training because of strains which weren't previously apparent. We are just glad to get pre-season out of the way and now we're eager to get started.

"During pre-season you worry about getting injuries in games, you worry about losing a player in matches when you're only trying to get them off and running.

We just need to get on with it as there's no use in crying about it. We'll just get on with preparing for the Kaunas game as it's down to us to deal with it."
