Premiership ref Clattenburg now banned at home and abroad

After reports that he had allegedly run up debts of about £60,000 through a failed electrical company that he owned, he was suspended, initially at home but now abroad.

The FA made the decision with Professional Game Match Officials Ltd (PGMOL), the referees' governing body.

It is believed that Clattenburg has been suspended because, as contractually obliged, he did not keep PGMOL informed on any developments in his off-the-pitch affairs.
