Rosenborg have dismissed claims that Per Ciljan Skjelbred has been the subject of offers from Newcastle and Blackburn.

Despite recently signing a new deal, both Newcastle and Blackburn were looking at bids of around £6million to sign the 21-year-old.

"As usual, during this time of the year, it's just rumours," sports director Erik Hoftun told Adresseavisen.

"The rumours are fluctuating just before the transfer window is closing.

"We haven't heard anything from the clubs and we haven't received any serious offer regarding Per Ciljan."

Hoftun confirmed that a bid of £6million would be hard to turn down.

"It's just rumours. But in case we had got a real offer of six million pounds we would of course have needed to consider it," he said.
