Oldham prepare to welcome ex-West Brom striker Hughes

Former West Brom striker Lee Hughes is expected at Oldham Athletic before the end of the month.

Hughes, nearing the end of a prison sentence for causing death by dangerous driving, has agreed to try and resurrect his career at Boundary Park, but Sheridan is prepared to bide his time.

Latics boss John Sheridan told the club's official website: "Obviously it's good we've scored six goals so far - and we've still got Lee to come in.

"I'm sure he will be pushing for a place, but he's not here yet and I'm pleased with my options up front.

"Craig (Davies) has done well, while Rico (Michael Ricketts) could perhaps do better, but saying that he's shown his quality in some areas and scored goals. I'm sure there's plenty more to come."
