"When he left Sheffield I stayed in contact so phoned him to ask for advice when I heard Hearts were interested in me. He said it is a good team and would be excellent for me to play there.
"He told me to work hard and everything would turn out well.
"I'm enjoying it and was pleased to score my first goal for the club against Dunfermline last week.
"But the big difference I noticed immediately is there is more contact in Scottish games than I was used to in England.
"It was tough there but not like this - but that is okay because I am strong and this type of football should suit me."
