After ruling himself out of the Victory's Pre-Season Cup final win, Muscat had only one aim in sight which was to be ready for the start of the season proper.

Speaking to The Age, Muscat said, "When it first happened I wanted to be fit for round one. I was tempted when we made the final (Pre-Season Cup) but I was quickly put back in my box by the medical staff who held me up and I am feeling fresh.

"I have completed the last three sessions so I will definitely put my hand up for selection and I am optimistic about playing. At this point in time I consider myself as playing."
