The Australian Women's Football Team, the Matildas, have kicked off their ASEAN Football Federation Championships with a win. The Matildas overpowered Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to record a 2-0 victory with Victoria Balomenos scoring both goals. Assistant Coach Alistair Edwards was pleased with how the team began the tournament but said things can always get better. "We can build on that performance and learn from it," he said. "We secured the result against a very well organised opponent, but there's room for improvement." Next on the agenda for the Matildas are the Philippines on Saturday night at 5:45pm local time (9:45pm AEDT).
