Hughes warning for Blackburn over transfer funds

Mark Hughes has warned Blackburn's powerbrokers he needs support in the transfer market.

In recent seasons, Sparky has picked up bargains like Robbie Savage, Ryan Nelsen, David Bentley, Chris Samba and David Dunn in the New Year sales. He is desperate to bring in midfield cover, with Wigan's Jason Koumas one possibility.

But money is tight at Rovers and that is a source of frustration for Hughes, who was linked to the vacant Newcastle post this week. Yet he insists he is happy with his position at Ewood Park.

Sparky, whose side visit Bolton on Sunday, said: "I can't keep pulling rabbits out of the hat.

"Sometimes when you know there are weaknesses in the team, it's frustrating when you can't address it right away.

"But we've coped up to this point and done reasonably well.

"Everybody wishes they had £12million or so to spend but it's not that easy. At times it's frustrating.

"However I understand that it's not always possible.

"We've expressed an interest in a number of players but how realistic it will be, only time will tell."
