Hearts have completed the signing of Argentinian midfielder Fernando Screpis from Lithuania's FC Kaunas.

The 28-year-old impressed Hearts caretaker Stevie Frail during a trial last summer: "He joined us back in pre-season last summer and showed his quality."

"He'll train with us tomorrow and we'll have a chance to assess his fitness," added Frail.

Screpis has played for a number of European clubs including Benevento (Italy), Ponferradina (Spain) and Sion in Switzerland.

He becomes the 17th player to make the move from FC Kaunas to Hearts and told the club website: "I am very happy to be here - this is a very important step for my career and will do my best for the team."
