Blackburn star Brett Emerton has helped raise awareness for a charity in Blackburn. Emerton visited Darwen Churches Action based in Blackburn which is a group who helps families in the need in the surrounding area with furniture and household appliances. Recently, donations have been scarce but with Emerton's profile and willingness to help, items have been coming in thick and fast. General Manager of the group, Fred Milligan told premierleague.com, "The response we've had on the back of this has been incredible. "Over the last few months we've had a sharp downturn in the amount of furniture being donated and I thought it was down to the credit crunch. "However, since Brett's visit, which helped to raise the public's awareness of what we do, items have started flooding in again, which is fantastic. "I had a family in the other day who had lost their home and we were able to give them everything they needed to get set up again."
