Dutch coaches continue to dominate Australian football

The 53-year-old has added his name to the ever-growing list of Dutchmen - which includes the likes of Rob Baan, Guus Hiddink, Johan Neeskens and Pim Verbeek - who have pursued coaching opportunities Down Under.

Versleijen brings with him a wealth of experience at both club and international level, having coached teams in Holland - including the nation's under-17 and under-23 sides - Japan and the Middle East.

He will succeed Steve O'Conner as head coach at the Australian Institute of Sport.

"This is a significant addition to our senior national coaching staff," said Baan, the FFA's technical director.

"In Jan Versleijen, we have someone who is not only in step with the technical direction of Australian football, but who also knows the Asian Football Confederation very well."
