Drogba, 29, said: "Yes, it is important but the season will be long and we need to take all the points we can.
"Of course, it is always a good result when you win away.
"We need to try to win the maximum amount of away games and then we have the chance to be on top.
"Last season I think we were seven points behind in November or December. So we just need to focus on our game and try to win the maximum amount of matches. It's an important advantage but then at the same time it's actually nothing.
"It's too early to speak about the fact that we're four points ahead of United and say 'That means we're going to be champions'.
"But we want to be champions because we missed out last year.
"We have got a four-point advantage over them already and nobody would say we don't want a gap like that even this early in the season."
