"We always had a feeling two or three players would go, so there was no panic about that, either.
"We were well covered for anything that might happen."
Strachan also said: "I'm all right. Most of us would like one or two players in just to cover you.
"But this has happened before, when I first came here, and through that we got Maloney and McManus through to the first team, and look how well they have done.
"There are definitely kids here who will have to come to the fore, if we need them."
