Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce insists his low-profile team have the hunger to shock the Premiership's heavyweights this season.
"Last season we had that 'Let's get it on' type of attitude and we had that team ethic and spirit which we are trying to continue.
"West Brom were the team to beat because they had better players, but they didn't have the determination or drive that this lot have got."
Bruce added: "I hope we can get the atmosphere back at the ground like we had five years ago. Birmingham supporters really associated with that team. They really loved that team.
"I remember hearing it said about us on the radio once that, when we ran out in that all-black away strip, all we needed was the skull and crossbones on the front!
"That gave us a sort of reputation which helped and it made sure that nobody liked coming to St Andrews. For a couple of years everybody said this was a tough place to come and play.
"We must recapture that and get back behind the team."
