Bolton's Diouf denies Senegal retirement

Bolton's Senegalese striker El Hadji Diouf has denied he has quit international football.

Diouf was quoted last week suggesting he had called time on his Senegal career, blaming the administration crisis blighting the West African country's national team.

But the Senegal captain has now said his comments were "distorted" and he has not quit playing for his country.

"I did not say that I was retiring from internationals," Diouf told French radio station RMC.

"The thing I said and which was quite distorted...is that if things continue like that, I would quit the national team to concentrate exclusively on my club," Diouf said according to the privately-owned daily Sud Quotidien.
