Bolton watch as West Brom take Gera gamble

West Brom are ready to let Zoltan Gera's contract to run down this season.

It is understood that Albion have no plans to sell Gera in the January window, even though he has been linked with a move to Bolton where former Hawthorns boss Gary Megson is now in charge.

The Hungary skipper's contract runs out at the end of this season but the Baggies board believe they have a better chance of getting him to sign a new one if they can offer him top flight football.

The Sunday Mercury says it was Megson who signed Gera for Albion from Ferencvaros three years ago in a £1.5 million deal. And while the 28-year-old has been unsettled at times since Baggies lost their top flight status, Gera is impressing everyone at the club with his commitment in recent games.
