Blackburn boss Mark Hughes has dismissed rumours that he has made a bid for unsettled Wigan midfielder Jason Koumas.

Hughes has been linked to the 28-year-old after working with him when in charge of the Wales national side.

Koumas joined the Latics for the start of this season and has made 16 league appearances so far this campaign.

Hughes is quick to dispel the rumours despite admitting that he admires the Wales international.

"There's obviously speculation because obviously I've worked with him before," he told the Daily Star.

"I think he's a talented boy, but we've not made a bid for Jason Koumas."
