Birmingham chief Brady: McLeish job safe

Birmingham City managing director Karren Brady insists Alex McLeish's job is safe.

Brady also paid tribute to McLeish's sense of humour following their humiliating Second City derby drubbing at Villa Park a fortnight ago.

The Scottish boss made a quip about his state of mind after the match - and Brady responded by joking about her recent arrest as part of an investigation into football corruption.

"One thing I'll make clear now - there is no way we are going to sack Alex McLeish," said Brady.

"McLeish has style. No whinging or falsehoods in the wake of defeat - and the one at Villa was a humdinger.

"I text my commiserations and he came back with: 'My wife has taken away my belt and shoelaces!'

"'Mine', I replied, 'were taken away on April 10 and have still not been returned!'"
