Birmingham boss: McSheffrey can make it

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is confident Gary McSheffrey has the class to cut it in the Premiership.

"Sheff's adjusting to the league, as well as other players," said the Blues boss. "He was flying last year in the Championship, he was a star.

"And he has worked really hard, he's just trying to find that extra wee bit he had in the Championship. I thought there were signs there against Spurs."

McLeish added: "I'm sure he's reflected on things and said to himself that 'Yes, it's tougher, but I can still do this'.

"Against Spurs, he sent a delicious cross over for Forssell which Robinson made a good save from.

"That was a hint of the real Sheff we want to see. He showed good quality, he held the ball at the right times and didn't give it away at the wrong times. That's what we have got to try and improve on as a team.

"One thing's for sure is that in the Premier League you don't get much time to develop, you've got to show everything you have right away."
