Birmingham boss Bruce happier after Yeung talks

Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce has been assured by Carson Yeung that their takeover plans are on track.

Bruce met with the Hong Kong businessman after Saturday's defeat of Wigan and told the Birmingham Mail: "The most important thing for me was to find out will the takeover still go ahead. The unanimous answer to that was 'yes'.

"Then it was about funds being available during the transfer window, and that was a positive too. But I think they had better get used to it, all this publicity and analysis. It's part and parcel of it in the Premier League.

"It's every day people are looking for a story and we've given them headlines the last few weeks. Rather than on the football side, it's been about the takeover and myself.

"I think now we should all stop it, move on and wait to see what happens by the deadline for the takeover at the end of December."

Bruce stressed that a new deal was not high on his agenda when they spoke.

"The contract issue has been well documented.

"He was telling me that because of takeover law in his country as well, it couldn't be amended. I'm fine with that.

"Once the takeover is complete then we will see if he keeps his word and we sit down and speak about it.

"We shook hands and agreed that's what we will do.

"But what type of contract and that sort of thing was not discussed. We will have to wait until the takeover goes through."
