Accrington Stanley deny talks with ex-Hull star Okocha

Accrington Stanley have denied reports that former Hull midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha is set to become their new player/coach.

The Reds have not been able to fill the vacant position left at the club since the departure of former Burnley midfielder Paul Cook in 2006.

Okocha is still thought to be keen to continue his playing career but it remains to be seen whether a move to a League Two club would be a big enough proposition for the former Nigeria international.

Stanley chief executive Robert Heys told the Accrington Observer: "He has just been released from Hull so he will be on big money.

"It is always nice to be linked with big players but there has been no dialogue - although if he wants to speak to us, he can get in touch."
