Conte pleased but knows Chelsea can improve after West Ham win

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is eyeing improvement following his side's win over West Ham United on Monday night.

The Blues edged their London rivals 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in their Premier League season opener which saw Diego Costa fire home the winner in the 89th minute.

A penalty from Eden Hazard early in the second half was cancelled out by James Collins' well-struck volley in the 77th minute before Costa produced the winning moment in Conte's first official game in charge of the West London club.

"The team played a good game with great intensity and good spirit," the Italian told Sky Sports.

"It's important to find the right spirit and intensity, we know that we can improve and we must improve a lot, but I am pleased for the team.

"The victory was deserved for me. Now we have to prepare for the next game."
