Antonio Conte says Tottenham Hotspur must build a winning squad to convince Harry Kane to stay at the club.

England skipper Kane is desperate to win silverware and came close to joining Manchester City last season.

While Spurs will go trophyless again this season, Kane has expressed his joy at working under Conte, but the Italian says the club must prove their vision to their star striker.

"I think that we need to finish in the best position possible for everybody, not only for Harry. It's important for the ambition, for everybody, for the club, for me, for players like Kane and not only with words but with facts," said the Tottenham boss. "To show, to have ambition, and this is the only thing I can say. Now we have 11 games and at the end then we will see, because we want to fight for something important, not just to participate, so I think many players don't deserve that and I don't deserve that, and the club don't deserve that.

"In this moment I think it is not important to speak about the future. In this moment it is important to see the present because the present is more important in this moment.

"We have to go 11 games and to try to get the best in these 11 games and then we will see. In this moment it is important to be focused on the present and we have a lot of time to sit around the table and then to speak about everything."
