Antonio Conte reportedly held discussions with Nemanja Matic to convince him to stay with Chelsea.

The Serbian midfielder had been heavily linked with Juventus this summer, following the arrival of N'Golo Kante from Leicester City, but the Daily Mirror reports that Conte has talked him into remaining at Stamford Bridge.

It is understood that Conte pleaded with Matic not to make the move to Turin as he has a fractious relationship with his former club.

The Italian has guaranteed Matic regular game time despite the presence of Kante which ultimately persuaded the 28-year-old former Benfica star to keep West London as his home.
