Connor Mahoney admits seeing Nathan Ake join Bournemouth helped make up his mind.

The former Blackburn Rovers winger agreed to join the Cherries this week.

Mahoney told the Daily Echo: “Nathan Ake is a £20 million player from Chelsea and clearly thought this was the best step for him.

“If he could make that choice, there was no reason I couldn't.

“I know I'm one of the youngest players here, but if you're good enough, you're old enough. The gaffer has said that to me. I want to give him a selection headache on the wing.

“I will work hard, try to improve and, hopefully, I can be the first name on the team-sheet as soon as possible."
