Colorado Rapids have denied reports of talks with former Barcelona captain Carles Puyol.

It's been claimed the Rapids have been speaking with Puyol about a playing return in the MLS.

But a Rapids source, speaking with the Denver Post, insist there's been no contact with the former defender.

Indeed, the Rapids insist they're shopping for a new striker and do not need to strengthen their defence.

Puyol retired from playing in 2014.
