Franco Colomba has been sacked by Bologna.

The decision comes just over 24 hours before the team welcome Inter to the Stadio Dall'Ara in their season opener.

"What I can say for certain is that on Wednesday you'll know the name of the new Coach," assured patron Sergio Porcedda.

Youth team tactician Paolo Magnani will be on the bench for the Monday night Serie A match.

"Colomba was fired primarily because he was sceptical about the squad. The decision was made by me and on a personal level I do feel sorry for him. I slept badly last night."
