Newcastle United manager Steve McLaren has revealed Argentine international Fabricio Coloccini will once again captain the club this campaign.
Rumours had circulated that Coloccini could be on the move from St James' Park this summer, with Crystal Palace believed to be interested in the 33-year-old.
However, McLaren confirmed in an interview with BBC Newcastle that Coloccini would remain at the club and serve as the Magpies skipper during the 2015/16 season.
"His choice is Newcastle United and he wants to stay here," McLaren said.
"I am absolutely delighted with that.
"Do I need to change captain?
"Why do I need to and unsettle everybody. He carries on."
