Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore believes that the Reds can still sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk if he hands in a transfer request.
The Reds were strongly linked with the Dutchman, but they were forced to publicly end their interest after the Saints had complained against them of tapping their player.
Collymore was asked by a Liverpool fan on Twitter: "Can we still sign VVD if he hands in a transfer request?"
He outlined a four-step process that could see van Dijk join the Reds:
"1. Yes
"2. He'd lose SFC bonuses
"3. LFC could offer to make that up
"4. Why would he? Be stubborn, don't train, get paid both ends."
