Everton fullback Seamus Coleman has hailed their young midfield combination.

Ross Barkley and Muhamed Besic shone in Monday's victory over QPR.

Of Barkley, Coleman told evertontv: "I thought he was very direct, very positive and it's great to see because we know what he's capable of and it's great to see him doing that in front of a crowd here at Goodison.

"I thought Mo [Besic] gave him that protection, which was important. Mo broke a lot of things up and let Ross have the freedom of the middle of the park. It was good to see."
