Clyne grateful for chance to revive career with Crystal Palace

Former Liverpool star Nathaniel Clyne has thanked Roy Hodgson for the chance he got at Crystal Palace.

Clyne signed as a free agent over the summer after leaving the Reds.

The 29-year-old has played the last three games for Palace due to the club's first and second choice right backs being injured.

While he knows he is not a first team man when everyone is fit, Clyne is just happy to get the chance.

He told reporters: "It is good to be given the opportunity to play again, which I am thankful for.

"I know the manager from the England days. It is good to be back working with him, I know his style of play and what he wants from the players.

"It is a familiarity I am used to and I am enjoying it. I am looking forward to keeping on playing and keeping on improving.

"He knows what I am about, he knows my playing style and he knows what he can get out of me. I am familiar with how he wants players to perform under him, so that definitely helps.

"We can take the confidence from the last game against Leeds, use that and hopefully get three points from Burnley as well."
