The Belgium international joined Club Brugge this summer after getting fed-up serving as back-up to Alisson.
And he says staying and earning his wages at Anfield would have been the easy option.
He said: "However, that was the easy option: seeing out remaining two years [of my contract] at Liverpool, making good money at a top European club and being a free agent the age of 33.
"But another two years on the bench, that wasn't in me.
"I have been at the end of my patience for the past six or seven months.
"The minutes I have already enjoyed with Club Brugge, the qualification against Kiev and Linz, I have not felt that in the last two years."
