Clayton hopes to impress Man City boss Mancini against Everton

Manchester City midfield prospect Adam Clayton is ready for a big FA Cup tie against Everton.

Clayton will turn out for Carlisle United and intends to send a message to City manager Roberto Mancini not to forget him.

Clayton told The Cumberland News: "We have been fully focused on our league games in the last few weeks, but the Everton game has been on the back of my mind for a while.

"I'm looking forward to playing against Premier League opposition.

"If I can prove I can play against them, then the new gaffer in charge at City might take notice.

"I'm looking forward to facing someone like Cahill. He is a goalscoring midfielder, so it would be good to stop him scoring and maybe score one myself.

"We've got nothing to lose when we go down there.

"We are the underdogs and everyone will say that Everton should beat Carlisle. But anything can happen in football, especially in the FA Cup and maybe we can go there and get them back to Brunton Park."

He added: "I've not really spoken to the new manager at City [Mancini] but he seems like a good football person and I don't see why he can't take the same view as Mark Hughes and get me involved.

"I've just got to do my best and see where it takes me."
