Ciaran Clark admits Newcastle have missed their fans

Ciaran Clark admits Newcastle United's season has been "weird".

The Republic of Ireland international, speaking to his former team-mate David Meyler on Premier League Uncut, is confident that Newcastle will get out of trouble at the bottom of the Premier League but knows results must improve.

However, speaking about a season without fans, Clark said: "It's been weird, but we have had to adapt to it as best possible.

"Games wise we are on a good little run performance-wise.

"The results haven't been there but we are hoping to pick that up over the next few weeks.

"We will try to kick on and get a few more points on the board."

Fans could be back for Newcastle's game against either Man City or Sheff United and the final day against Fulham.

Clark reflected: "Initially it was probably a bit weird with no fans.

"It was a bit crazy really with no atmosphere.

"The whole thing, turning up at the ground and showing passports, temperature checks and it was all different to what we are used to.

"It's something we have adapted to but everybody is looking forward to the day when fans will be allowed back and things getting back to normal."

"They are always there to roar us on and I feel they play a big part."
