Christian Eriksen on track to sign for Brentford this weekend

Christian Eriksen is on track to sign for Brentford this weekend.

The Daily Mail says Eriksen's proposed deal with Brentford could be concluded this weekend with both parties keen to reach an agreement before Monday's deadline.

The Dane is training with Jong Ajax, the Dutch club's reserve team, to build fitness for his expected return to competitive football, yet talks have continued with the Bees.

Even though Eriksen is a free agent and not bound by the transfer window, there is willingness on all sides to tie up the deal by January 31 so he can be included in Brentford's 25-man Premier League squad this month.

At this stage, the contract being discussed would be a simple arrangement until the end of the season. That would allow time for both player and club to decide whether to extend the deal.

The Dane has been cleared to return to competitive football after suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch during his country's Euro 2020 meeting with Finland in Copenhagen on June 12.
