Wood hadn't featured since a knee injury picked up a couple of days before Christmas and hadn't found the net since the end of November.
He said, “They play zonal so no-one's really picking you up. Wardy's done a great block on the line and I've got up and stuck it away, which was nice.
“It's been hugely frustrating for everybody and especially me. It's nice to be back and nice to be playing again and hopefully there's a lot more to come.
“I think it was needed for everybody outside the club. We know what we are doing as a team and as a unit and as supporters they know what we're about.
“It's not nice to go on a winless run for so long but now it's broken we are going to kick on and win many more games until the end of the season.
“Nine games to go, all to play for and a lot of points up for grabs. Hopefully we can keep going and keep working hard and see where it takes us."
