Cristian Chivu is risking a row with Inter Milan by declaring himself fit for Romania ahead of tomorrow's Euro2008 qualifier against Holland.

Chivu infuriated Inter chiefs when he injured a shoulder playing for Romania in a friendly last month against Germany and he is now ready to defy his club again.

"I am taking full responsibility for returning earlier than expected because my country needs me as well as Inter," the 26-year-old insisted.

"I'm happy that my Coaches can pick me in whatever role they need me in as central defender, full-back or in the midfield.

"I need to play against Holland as it will be the match of our generation - a generation that hasn't breathed the air of a big tournament."
