China accept 2015 Copa America invitation

The Chinese Football Association (CFA) has confirmed that they have accepted an invitation to play in the 2015 Copa America.

The 12-team tournament is hosted by the CONMEBOL confederation, consisting of the 10 nations in South America, as well as two invitees.

For next year's competition, Mexico and China PR have answered calls to contest the cup which will be held in Chile from June 11 to July 4 in 2015.

Uruguay will go in as reigning champions after saluting in the 2011 version in Argentina, beating Paraguay 3-0 in the final.

It will be the first time China, who appointed Frenchman Alain Perrin as their new manager late last week, has competed in the Copa America and just the second time an Asian country has been involved after Japan were present in Paraguay in 1999.
