Chievo Verona have been rocked by the sudden resignation of coach Giampiero Ventura.
The decision was made after their 2-2 draw with Bologna.
Chievo director of sport Giancarlo Romairone admits Ventura's decision has taken them aback.
"It was a bolt from the blue," confessed Romairone on Sky Sport Italia.
“We now have to take a little time and wait for cool heads to analyse the situation along with those thoughts that came out in the heat of the moment.
“At the final whistle, the Coach told me he would communicate his decision to the players. I urged him to wait and count to 10 first.
“The disappointment of the Coach emerged in the heat of the moment, but the players stand by the Coach. His demands are important and the club is doing everything possible to satisfy them, despite the objective difficulties."
