LAFC defender Giorgio Chiellini says Leonardo Bonucci's retirement decision is no surprise.

The Juventus defender says he'll hang up the boots at the end of next season.

Former Juve teammate Chiellini told Sky Italia: "Not surprised, we talk often... I think he has this big European goal ahead of him that he must try to achieve, then there's a year to go and we 'll see what will it be.

"A year before the European Championship I had a broken knee and I was unable to play two games in a row, the European Championship gave me strength to return.

"Six months before the European Championship I started playing again and then you all know how it went.

"Leo had many physical problems but he has the mind to get to the European Championship. It would have been a shame to leave now."
