Chicago Fire youngster Shipp lands weekly MLS award

Chicago Fire rookie Harry Shipp has been named the MLS Player of the Week for Week 10.

The 22-year old forward netted a hat-trick at the Red Bull Arena on Saturday as the Fire opened their account for the 2014 MLS season with a 5-4 win over New York Red Bulls.

Shipp scored in the fourth, 54th and 59th minutes as the Fire scored first before falling 2-1 behind and then skipping away to a 5-2 lead.

The first-year attacker won the awards ahead of New York's Bradley Wright-Phillips and Real Salt Lake's Javier Morales who also scored hat-tricks.

Shipp is the first Fire player to receive Player of the Week award since Week 21 last season when Chris Rolfe scored a brace against DC United.
