Gonzalo Segares has announced his retirement from professional soccer.
The 32-year old Costa Rican defender has called time on his MLS career after spending 10 years with Chicago Fire.
Segares first joined the Fire in 2005 before departing in 2009 for Cypriot outfit Apollon Limassol prior to returning to Toyota Park the following year.
The 19-time Costa Rica international, who made over 230 first team appearances, will remain at the Fire in an off-field role which will see him work as an academy coach and act as a club ambassador.
In an official statement, Segares said: "It has been an incredible ride for me, filled with many good memories and amazing moments that I will never forget.
"This game has given me the honor of representing my country, my club and to make my family proud. I leave the sport today knowing that I left it all in the field for them."
