Chicago Fire sign Thompson from Colorado Rapids

Chicago Fire have completed the signing of Wells Thompson from Colorado Rapids.

The 28-year old midfielder has joined the Fire in exchange for a conditional draft pick. Per team and MLS policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Wells is a steady, dependable player that has proven himself in MLS," said Fire Head Coach Frank Klopas.

"He will provide additional depth and coverage on the wing and in the midfield as we continue to make our push for the MLS Cup Playoffs."

Thomson started his MLS career with New England Revolution in 2007, making 71 appearances, before appearing 75 times for the Rapids after his 2010 move from the Revs.
