Chicago Fire's president of soccer operations Javier Leon is confident that Robbie Rogers will return to MLS a better player than when he left.
The 25-year old departed Columbus Crew for a shot at English football with Leeds United in January 2012 but has since returned to America, and retired from the game.
However, he is eager to get back to playing at the highest level with the Fire holding the first right of refusal for his services.
After meeting with Rogers, Leon suggests that the club will pursue the winger who has recently been training with LA Galaxy.
"It was really very good meeting him," Leon said.
"I think he's a very good guy. Smart. He seemed very happy, very relaxed. He seemed to be really enjoying football again.
"We believe he will be a better soccer player than he was in the past. We feel strongly about what a great player he would be for us. It would be great to have a player and a person like him be part of the team."
